BVLC is a local community project aiming to provide training and access to ICT facilities to all communities in the Breadalbane area of Scotland’s first National Park.

This is a mobile resource, taking laptop computers into communities and linking village halls to satellite broadband, where people have long distances and poor transport links to main centres. We want to offer courses and distance learning to the other 6 communities in the area.

Although the learning is very ‘real’, we have called this learning centre ‘virtual’ because we do not have a bricks and mortar project, but one that is mobile and portable, and which uses existing community buildings across the area to deliver training and encourage individual learning to the many people in our area who previously had no access to modern and fast ICT equipment and teaching.
